Rocky Patel “BURN”

Hello everyone, today I am reviewing a new cigar from Rocky Patel named “BURN.” I will say up front that I am very excited to get my hands on this stick but unfortunately will be basing my decision on a single stick smoke. Yes, I know, very hard to make that decision on one but it will have to due for the basis of this review. So before I start, a thumbs up to the folks at the Humidor for having it in stock. So with the history behind us, lets get to the review and find out if it passes the “Mighty Stew” test or not.

WRAPPER:  Ecuadorian Sumatra

BINDER & FILLER: Nicaraguan / Nicaraguan

Length/Ring: 6 X 52

Strength: Medium

Price: Approximately $9.50

My Observations: This is a truly great looking cigar that totally drew my attention to it when I first laid my eyes on it. Unfortunately, once I got it home and removed the plastic from it,  I found a plug-in the wrapper  “Bummer!” Other than that, I found this creature to be a fine specimen that sports an oily deep rich chocolate wrapper surrounded by small non noticeable veins. On my finger touch inspection, I found no soft spots to speak of.

  • Over all “B” in the grading department only because of the plug I located.

Cigar Label: Very nice marketing move Rocky!” I say this because the red, gold, and white colors totally go with its name.

Snip: Straight cut.

Pre-Draw: Pleasant peppery taste.

Flavors: The 1st third of this cigar consisted of a peppery taste that was quickly met with a rich syrupy flavor and coffee. The 2nd third continued with these three flavors that basically had me begging for more. Then just then when I thought to myself “Rocky” has another winner on his hands, I detected a gross pungent flavor  that just quickly blew my smoking experience into the toilet. Being a huge Rocky fan my mind quickly said “Say it isn’t so Rocky,” but it was. Moving into the last third the pungent flavor began to fade away but the damage was already done and my decision was already made.

Draw: Perfect

Burn line: Jagged but needed no touch ups.

Liked it: Yes up till the pungent flavor and then “No.”

Recommend it: No but remember it was based on a one cigar review.
